Overview
The primary responsibilities of the Street &
Sanitation Department are
-
Maintenance and repair of all city streets
and right-of-ways
-
Collection and disposal of garbage and brush
within the city limits
-
Maintaining the sewer collection system.
Policies and Procedures
Residential garbage collection
Residential garbage is collected on a regular
schedule Tuesday through Thursday. The cost to
residential customers is $15.00 monthly and is
collected along with the customer's monthly
utility bill.
Holiday Schedule for Garbage Collection for
2009
All
garbage will be collected as scheduled, with the
exception of the following:
Veteran's Day Week - Tuesday and
Wednesday garbage will run one day early on Nov.
9th and 10th, Thursday's garbage will run as
scheduled on Nov. 12th.
Thanksgiving Week - Garbage will
be collected one day early on Nov. 23rd, 24th, and
25th.
Christmas Week - Garbage will be
collected one day early on Dec. 21st, 22nd, and
23rd.
New Years Week – Garbage will
run as scheduled.
Business garbage collection
Handled by the sanitation Department
Special trash collection
T he Street & Sanitation department offers
collection of inert items such as appliances,
furniture, and brush/limbs to residential
customers at no additional cost. These items
will be collected Monday through Thursday. Items
such as freezers and refrigerators should have
doors removed or be strapped for safety.
Disposal of deceased animals on city streets
Call the Street & Sanitation office at 386-5674,
during regular business hours, to request
disposal.
Sewer problems
The Street & Sanitation
department should be called before a contractor.
